After shoulder surgery, your surgeon will “dress” the surgical incision in order to protect the area and help it heal. In this article, we are going to talk about the prineo dressing and how it can be used effectively after shoulder surgery.
What is a Prineo Dressing?
Prineo is mesh and liquid adhesive system to help hold the incision together during the healing process following a shoulder surgery procedure.
Once the bulky dressing is removed after your surgery, you will be left with the mesh dressing shown above. This mesh should be left in place until your first postoperative visit with Dr. Holloway’s office. We will remove the mesh and the blue surgical stitch at that visit. You may shower with the Prineo dressing in place. Once finished showering gently pat the area dry. No other dressing needs to be reapplied to the area. Do not soak the wound in water. Topical ointments should not be applied to the Prineo dressing. This could result in loosening of the mesh.
